Garrotin

Garrotin is playful and happy festive song and dance in 2/4 time. It originated in Asturias in northern Spain. Like the Farruca, also from the north, Garrotin has slow sensuous sections, sudden stops and starts, and sections which start slow and build up to a furious pace. The story goes it was originally a song of the Lleida’s gypsies that ws later devloped into a dance guitar palo by gypies of Andalucia in the south. That's the previaling"long story short" version.

This video contains only the basic feel of Garrotin. A full song and dance version is much more complex. It doesn't pretend to be anything else but a simple student piece. I hope you like it.
