"Show Me the Way to Go Home" is a folk song and
drinking tune. It was made famous with its 1925 adaptation by the pseduonymous "Irving King"
(the British songwriting team James Campbell and Reginald Connelly). It tells the story of an
intoxicated bar patron trying to go home after a night of drinking. It is believed of English
origin but has spread to Ireland and North America, where it is also commonly sung.

Lyrics
"Show me the way to go home"
Verse 1
I have watched the days, melt and fade away
Ten thousand times or more
And I have found the answers
In the sand upon the shore
Chorus 1
No matter where I roam
Over land or sea or foam
And you will always hear me singing this song
Show me the way to go home
Verse 2
I've sat here in the sun, and listened to everyone
On the questions that they pose
And I have found the answers
In the petals of a rose
Chorus 1
Chorus 2
Show me the way to go home
I'm tired and I want to go to bed
I had a little drink about an hour ago
And it's gone right to my head
Chorus 1
Verse 3
I've watched you come and go, and I've learned enough to know
There's nothing left to see
And in my life I've loved a girl
And I know that she loved me
