Miguel Angel,
Try counting 4 stroke rasgueados in 3s and 3 stroke rasgueados in 4s. This will put the accent on a different finger each time.

Hi atif_2406,
Welcome,

I would like to do this but unfortunately I would run into copyright issues. The best alternative is to simply buy Paco Pena's "Toques Flamencos" book that includes this piece.

Toques Flamencos book

The second best alternative to have a close look at people playing this piece on YouTube. You will be amazed how much you can pick up by watching someone play it.

If you can get a teacher to help that is probably the most ideal solution.

Hey Sal,

Im Atif from Qatar, which is a small country in the middle east. Been a big fan of your work, ,and only can dream of becoming as good as you are. At the moment im hooked the piece you did called Herencia Latina Rumba. It stuck in my head!!
I found the music sheet for it but i dont know quite how the fingering goes for the song. If you can could you please do a tutorial on that would just be awesome!   Cheesy

Keep up the gr8 work man! Smiley

Cheers

I think he plays fine.  In this piece my opinion is that it should be more like a percussive effect as opposed to a clean continuous rasgueo like in soleas por buleria or similar.

I have been practicing as you stated above already except I have not used a metronome, but have been counting aloud.  I can keep the count but it is the speeding up where I have the challenge.  I had already done the finger curling with the extension of the i from E to e and I seem to be okay with that part.  The issue I am having is when I add the speed I am pausing too much after the last i movement from e to E before I release ami again for the next rasgueo even though I already have curled the fingers.  That's where my timing goes off.  I am going to try the metronome so that I don't have to do the verbal count, and perhaps this will help.  I'll report back with results in a few days.  Thanks.

it sounds like sixteenths to me, though he doesn't play them very cleanly.

a,m,i,i. each stroke is a sixteenth note.

amii amii  amii i
2e&a3e&a4e&a1

he starts on beat 2 and ends on beat 1. end with a down stroke with i.

when doing the i upstroke, pull up the rest of your fingers simultaneously to prepare them for the next stroke. practice with a metronome. one stroke per click. do it slow and clean and build your way up. take the metronome back down again and try four strokes per click. build your way up, and you'll get it soon.
