Download Test DVD (7mb)

From the main startup screen start the Media player.

You can also browse the DVD contents to the folders containing the video files. If you can't play Avi files, try the Wmv videos

Problem

The avi or flv files won't play in video browser or in my system's Windows Media Player? Codec errors.

What is a codec:

A codec is computer software capable of encoding and/or decoding a digital data stream or signal. In this case, a video.

Although avi and flv are two of the most common video formats in the world today, Windows systems (sadly) will not automatically play these videos. You need to install extra codecs yourself.

Fix 1

Download and install
K-Lite Codec Pack Basic.

Restart the video player and try again.

Fix 2

Download and install
FFDShow

Restart the video player and try again.
